All-Stars For Kids is an annual fundraising campaign in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area and mentoring programs for children and youth facing adversity.
Once again, All-Stars For Kids partners Qualico, Gary Nissen, PBA Group of Companies and Michael & Jane Evans have committed their support to mentoring and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Together, they will provide the matching dollars needed to ensure that every donation made by the public will be matched.
Dollars raised during All-Stars For Kids will be used to create and empower life-changing mentoring relationships for children and youth in and around Calgary who are dealing with challenges that no one should have to face alone.
MENTORING MAKES A ‘BIG’ DIFFERENCE
We ensure that children and youth facing adversity have the relationships they need to become resilient and realize their full potential. With the support of our professional, qualified staff, mentors form strong one-to-one relationships with their mentees that express care, challenge growth, provide support, share power, and expand possibilities.
These critical developmental relationships allow children and youth to strengthen their social emotional learning and executive functioning skills, developing them into resilient young people who are able to overcome life’s adversities and achieve more.
For over 25 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area (BBBS) has been making a positive difference in the lives of children and youth in Calgary and the surrounding areas. BBBS provides direct service to children and youth facing adversity by matching them with caring volunteers in quality one-to-one mentoring relationships. Our agency staff members are experts at recruiting and screening volunteers; making intentional, meaningful matches; and providing the support necessary for mentoring relationships to have a lasting impact.
Last year alone, our qualified staff created and empowered over 1,200 mentoring matches for children and youth in and around Calgary who are facing adversity. At the core of this impact are the more than 1,200 dedicated volunteers who gave over 52,000 hours to be a consistent, caring source of support to young people in our communities in need of additional supportive relationships.
